Due to ongoing global economic challenges, including high inflation and changing tariff regulations, Sony has decided to raise the price of the PlayStation 5 in several regions. The price hike mainly affects the European, Australian, and New Zealand markets.
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it has made a difficult decision to adjust the recommended retail price (RRP) of the PS5 in select regions. These include Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as well as Australia and New Zealand. Interestingly, while the PS5 Digital Edition will see a price increase, the standard PS5 with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive will not experience any price change in some of these markets. In some cases, it will even see a price drop.
Here is the updated pricing for the PS5, effective from April 14:
Europe
- PS5 Digital Edition – €499.99
- (No price change for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive)
United Kingdom
- PS5 Digital Edition – £429.99
- (No price change for the standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive)
Australia
- PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $749.95
- Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $829.95
New Zealand
- PS5 Digital Edition – NZD $859.95
- Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – NZD $949.95
As for the PS5 Pro, the RRP will remain unchanged across all regions. However, the disc version will see a slight price reduction, which also becomes effective starting April 14:

Europe – €79.99
United Kingdom – £69.99
Australia – AUD $124.95
New Zealand – NZD $139.95
In regions such as the Middle East and Africa, where Sony does not provide a suggested retail price, price increases are still expected. Sony recommends that customers in these areas check with local retailers or visit the official regional Sony websites to confirm the updated pricing.
