Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially announced a price increase for its PlayStation Plus subscription service, effective April 16 in several parts of the world. This news may come as a disappointment for many users, especially considering that the current prices are already seen as relatively high in some regions.
According to the official PlayStation Blog in Latin America, Brazil, South East Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore), Sony cited global economic conditions as a key factor behind this decision. The company stated that adjustments are necessary for them to continue offering high-quality games through the PlayStation Plus service.
PlayStation Australia has also confirmed that similar price increases will apply in their region. Sony acknowledged that this was not an easy decision to make, especially given the current volatile global economy and the ongoing impact of trade policies, including those previously introduced by current U.S. President Donald Trump.
